Acquisition in 2004 of a stake of c.6% in the listed Aguas de Barcelona, leader of Water Treatment in Spain and Latam. Exit in 2007 through an IPO launched by its controlling shareholders, Caixa and Suez.
In consortium with international industrial groups and other major Spanish investors, Torreal participated in the public tender that was awarded the licence for the second mobile operator and in the subsequent establishment and development of the business. Sold to Vodafone Airtouch in 2002.
Build-up process in the automotive component sector initiated in 1995. The process was led by Torreal together with Gestamp (Riberas family) and current President, Antón Pradera. Nowadays the Company is a world leader of its sector, listed since 2002. Torreal's exit was executed in 2014 through an ABB.
During a 10-year tenure, Torreal supported the management team through an MBO led by Carlos Ortega, in its process of growth and international expansion (sales rocketed from €135m to €540m). Torreal exited the company in 2015 via sale to a consortium formed by M1 Fashion (Mikati family) and private equity fund L Capital Asia.
Torreal acted as local partner of the German family Haub to introduce and extend in Spain the hard discount (Plus) business that had been so successfully developed in Germany. Exit in 2002 via sale of its 40% stake to the promoter family.
